Hello, this is the Korea National Souvenir Center.

The last Wednesday of every month is the cultural day designated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Since January 2014, on designated cultural day,

you can visit major national and public museums, art galleries, and old palaces for free.

On this cultural day, why don't you go see a musical?

Today, I would like to introduce you to some musicals that will be seen cultural day on April.

You can expect a lot from them as they are my personal recommendation!

1. DOCTOR ZHIBAGO

It is based on Boris Pasternak's long novel Dr.Zhivago, who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1958.

One musical, Dr.Zhivago, won five Academy Awards and became a big box office hit.

-The plot-

Yuri Zhibago, who was born the son of the Moscow millionaire but became an orphan at the age of eight,

is adopted by the renowned Gromaco family and grows into a great doctor and poet.

Lara, who lost her father early and grew up in an unfavorable environment,

is disillusioned with the reality while continuing an unwanted relationship with the Russian judge Comarovsky.

Eventually, Lara points a gun at Comarovsky at the ball on the night before New Year's Eve,

and then meets him on that day, Yuri, the opponent of fate.

Stage direction and beautiful melody

that seem to be in the middle of winter in Russia are the most memorable plays.

Why don't you go back to the story of the Russian Revolution with the writer?

The musical Doctor Zhivago is being held at Charlotte Theater until May 7.

2. MAN OF LA MANCHA

It is based on Don Quixote, a masterpiece of the century

that has been continuously read and reinterpreted for over 400 years.

-The plot-

The story is set in a Spanish dungeon.

Servantes, who has been dragged to jail on blasphemy, holds impromptu plays in jail with the prisoners.

Alonzo, who lives in Ramancha, reads so much about the story

that he fancies himself Don Quixote and leaves to find Sancho, a warrior and adventure.

It reminds us of a dream and hope we forgot about my tired daily life.

Stage presentation, number, and acting are the perfect musical!

Man of Ramancha will play at the Blue Square Interpark Hall from April 12 to June 3.

3. BILLY ELLIOT

It's based on the movie Billy Elliot.

Eleven million people from all over the world attended, including five Olivier Awards and ten Tony Awards.

In total, it won about 80 awards.

-The plot-

Billy Elliot tells a story about a coal mining town in Northern England during the Great Depression in the 1980s.

Billy lives in a poor coalmine with his father, brother, and grandmother, who are enthusiastic about strike protests.

One day Billy comes into ballet class by chance,

and the teacher who discovered Billy's God-given talent for dancing gives him a private lesson.

Love and friendship with father, passion for ballet,

and situation in England in 80s is a play to be seen together.

It is a touching work that will bring attention to the passionate dancing of a little Billy!

Billy Elliot will be performing at the D-cube Art Center until May 7.

(Preschool children are not admitted)

How about the musicals you've learned so far?

I hope you go to see a musical that I recommended, and spend a meaningful cultural day!
