Hello, this is the Korea National Souvenir Center.

Today, I'll introduce samulnori, which takes away the eyes, ears, and even the mind of a viewer.

1.Samulnori

Samulnori refers to the four musical instruments played on objects, gong, janggu, drum and jing.

If Pungmulnori is accompanied by a large scale of play, it emphasizes the activeness of outdoor performance, while samulnori is a form of performance that emphasizes the sensation felt by playing the instrument itself.

2. Gong

The gong is a brass bowl shaped instrument.

In samulnori, the gong player plays the role of a conductor.

Because it is loud and has a wade range of techniques,

it plays a leading role in the tune of other instruments.

With the finger of the hand that holds the string of the gong,

you press and release the back of the gong, making different timbre tones depending on the beat.

3. Janggu

The Janggu are generally made of paulownia,

but they were previously made of earthenware of metal.

On both sides of the janggu, the left side is covered with white horse shells

and the right side is usually covered with normal horse shells.

The reason for this discrimination is that the two skins have to be different

to make different sounds!

White horse shells is usually thicker than horse shell, so it makes a lower, softer soudn,

and normal horse shell makes a clear, high-pitched sound.

4. Jing

If the gong plays a small piece, the jing divides the small passage.

It has the most names among Korean musical instruments.

It puts it in his left hand, puts it in a mold,

holds a cotton band in his right hand, and rings each impulse.

It wraps itself around other percussion instruments, but it also keeps order throughout.

It looks very easy to play as if you could just pat it on the beat once.

If you don't adjust the mood and characteristics of each beat well, it is likely to ruin the music.

5. Drum

In the old days, the drum was used to dig through logs,

today, the wooden boards are gathered to make a barrel and both sides are covered with leather.

Many different types of leather are used during this time, but most of Koreans used cows or dogs.

In addition, the names of the drums vary according to their appearance.

How was samulnori and musical instruments you learned

with the Korea National Souvenir Center?

I'm just proud to be able to give you good information.

Have a nice day :)

Hello, this is the Korea National Souvenir Center.

There are three major painters in Korea.

The main characters are Hong-do Kim, Seung-up Jang, and YoonBok Shin.

Today, I would like to learn about Hyewon YoonBok Shin.

1. Life of Hyewon YoonBok Shin

Born in 1758, he was born as the oldest son.

YoonBok Shin was a painter who was so good at painting the lifestyle of ordinary people

during the Joseon Dynasty.

In particular, Hyewon was very good at painting love between men and women

so that nobody else could follow in this field.

2. Hyewon YoonBok Shin's Works

YoonBok Shin presents both the poetic taste and the romance between men and women,

the urban sense and the humor of the gisaeng and gibang,

but he was also looked negatively by the Confuciancustoms of Joseon Dynasty.

There are a lot of products that are inspired by YoonBok Shin

at the Korea National Souvenir Center!

Let's see it together.

1. Lamp with painting of Korean artist YoonBok Shin

(Go to buy)

It is good for interior use and gift.

Because It is made of the motif of YoonBok Shin's paintings,

it gives us a sense of informal

I think it's good to feel an odor of antiquity hidden in it.

2. Fruit plate

It would be great to use it to list the fruit when the guests vistit.

Wouldn't everyone be fascinated by Yoonbok Shin's paintings as fruits disappeared one by one?

Dancheong goose

K-design 2018. 5. 2. 09:00

Hello, this is the Korea National Souvenir Center.

Today, I would like to introduce dancheong goose.

As soon as I see it, it is a pair of dancheong geese that are so cute that

I want to give presents to newly-weds.

Dancheong goose is often presented as a gift to newly-weds.
Especially, it was a mandatory wedding gift from 80s.

Do you know why?

Let's find out.

Dancheong goose's Meaning

Dancheong goose means " single-hearted " that it will only look at you for the rest of its life.

The goose is a symbol of the bride and groom's good love.
So it is used as a traditional wedding accessory.

The goose was traditionally considered a good omen to rest on a platform like a duck.
When holding a traditional wedding, many guests brought dancheong wild geese like the current wreath!

In fact, wild geese have a deep affection both, so once paired, they will live together for life.

Maybe it is the same reason why you give dancheong wild goose as a gift.

Dancheong goose Application

Let's take a look at the dancheong goose that is sold at the Korea National Souvenir Center.

Dancheong goose that is sold at the Korea National Souvenir Center has traditional Korean five color.

Isn't Dancheong beautiful based on red, yellow, blue, black, and white colors?

If you look closely, you will see that five colors are used.

Isn't a pair of geese really cute?

I wanted to buy it even though I'm not married!

(Doesn't mean anything...TT)

You can twist these neck.

I wish you could always look at one place and join together!

Dancheong goose is a very good product for house and honeymoon gifts.

I think it's very important to have a relaxing afternoon tea time and a one time break.

For parents who prefer healthier tea to coffee, how about this cup?

This is a traditional cup of tea.

If you drink tea, it is good for your health, but wouldn't it be better if you look at a beautiful cup?

It would be great if you gave it to your parents as a meaningful gift for Parents' Day.

Bandori Tea Table

(Go to buy)

(bandori: The Rest after completing the work)

Oh, it takes a Tea Table to enjoy it with a cup of tea, right?

So no matter what cup of tea you put on it, it looks good on you.

Parents would love it if I bought it with tea cups.

Hello, this is the Korea National Souvenir Center.

What is April 28?

It is the birth of Chungmugong Yi Sun-sin.

Admiral Yi Sun-sin is a hero of the Imjin War

and an important historical figure who is respected by the Korean people even in modern times.

On the birth of Chungmugong, let's take a look at the growth process and major accomplishments of Yi Sun-sin!

1. Growth Progress

Born in Geoncheon-dong, Seoul, Admiral Yi Sun'sin spent his childhood in Seoul, too.

He was active and clever, was good at archery and horse riding.

But as fits, he studied literature for mor than 10 years and prepared for the entrance examination.

So? In "A War Diary," Admiral Yi Sun-sin's writing style is very beautiful.

He prepared for the liberal arts, but after getting married,

he changed his mind to learn martial arts and passed the stae examination at the age of 31.

This is 1576 years before the Japanese invasion of Korea, which was 16 years ago.

Then, let me introduce Admiral Yi Sun-sin's major naval battles!

2. Major naval battles and achievements

Admiral Yi Sun-sin made an unprecedented victory in the history of naval battles

by crushing the Japanese army that invaded our seas.

Let's take a look at the major battles he won during the Imjin War.

[The Battle of Okpo] It's the first naval battle held off the coast of Okpo in Geoje Island on May 7, 1592. It is the first time that Admiral Yi Sun-sin fought against Japanese soldiers! Admiral Yi Sun-sin made a big victory in the battle by defeating 26 Japanese ships.

[The Battle of Sacheonpo], which took place on May 29, 1592, was the first Battle of Sacheonpo. He led the enemy ship into a wide area and attacked 13 ships in a counterattack.

[The Battle of Hansando] that took place on July 8, 1592, is considered one of the three greatest battles along with Baejak and Jinju. Admiral Yi Sun-sin used a crane shaped like a crane's wings to wrap up the Japanese troops, then oured all of its firepower at once to destroy 66 Japanese ships. It is also one of the world's top four naval battles!

[At the Battle of Noryang] the last battle of the Japanese invasion of 1592, the United States defeated the retreating Japanese troops in alliance with the Myeong Dynasty army. Joseon naval forces sank more than 200 ships and captured more than 100 of them. But in this battle, Admiral Yi Sun-sin was shot by a Japanese soldier and killed. The anecdote, which said, "Don't tell my death to enemy because the war is urgent to fight!" is still very popular!

It's already the 473 years since the birth of Chungmugong this year.

Admiral Yi Sun-sin prepared the battle with a brave and wise strategy.

He was also a great leader who helped them figure out the minds and morale of the soldiers.

A two-day trip around Seoul

K-tour 2018. 4. 26. 09:00

Hello, this is the Korea National Souvenir Center.

I would like to leave with my parents and friends this weekend,

but it is difficult to meet the schedule because everyone is busy.

(T_T)

So when choosing a place to visit, I often feel a little concerned.

Why don't you go on a spring outing

not far from Seoul this weekend?

Today, the place I would like to recommend is

"the picnic site near Seoul in spring".

1. Gapyung

It is Gapyung that arrive in 1 hour by car from Seoul.

It's hard to find fresh air and open view near Seoul.

You can see it in Gapyung!

In particular, The Garden of Morningcalm in Gapyung is visited by many tourists all year around.

On a massive scale of 100,000 pyung, you can see about 5,000 plant species in one place.

Wht don't you look at the arboretums you've seen in many movies and dramas

since opening in 1996, and also drink fresh air?

2. Yangpyeong

From Dumulmeori to Yusuji Natural Ecology Park.

Yangpyeong is a place where beautiful natural scenery make travelers happy.

Yongmunsa Temple with a long history and various experience parks are also located here, making it a great place to travel!

Dumulmeori is a combination of two rivers, the Bukhan River flowing from Mt. Kumgang

and the Namhan River flowing from Geumdaebong in Jungseon,

making it one of Yangpyeong's popular tourist attractions.

3. Suwon

Suwon Hwaseong Fortress and Hwaseong HAenggung,

two of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, are must-see attractions.

You can see it in Suwon.

It is not only educational, but also a great place to enjoy spring picnic.

Suwon is also a great place to visit because it has good accessibility to Yongin,

where tourist attraction such as Everland and Korean Folk Village are located!

4. Yeoju

Located in the eastern and southern half of Gyeonggi-do, Yeoju is located near Yangpyeong, Wonju, Chungju, and Icheon, making it a perfect place to visit natural, cultural and restaurants.

You can also visit the Yeoju World Ceramic Livingware Gallery and Seonsan Art Museum,

and you can also hear about the history and tradition of the city at the Yeoju Museum.

So far, it has found out about the areas surrounding Seoul!

I was also thinking about where to go this weekend,

but I should visit Yangpyeong!

Hello, this is the Korea National Souvenir Center.

The weather is getting warm enough to make no difference between spring and summer.

As the weather gets warmer, I often feel like having a cup of warm tea.

Today, we'll talk about 'afternoon tea'.

Afternoon tea

Afternoon tea is spending time to enjoy tea with snacks between lunch and dinner.

It's a lifestyle that started in the 19th century in the English aristocracy.

As afternoon teas culture spreads around the world,

it is now easily seen even in non-british countries.

Especially, hotels and luxury restaurants serve afternoon tea as their menus.

Afternoon tea in England?

Tea ceremony in Korea!

The tea ceremony is a etiquette for tea and drinks.

Because have to serve tea with due respect

the course of preparation is quite complex and delicate.

In addition to serving someone, tea ceremony is also a popular hobby :)

Things gained from the tea ceremony

You can get many things from the tea ceremony.

1. The tea ceremony makes it a habit to handle things carefully,

because that is a delicate and meticulous one.

2. Because of the peaceful atmosphere, you can gain the effects of meditation,

so through meditatioin, you can regain psychological stability and heal emotional scars.

Why don't you talk to your loved ones over tea at home this spring?

Oh! You don't have a tea set at home? Don't worry about it!

There are already beautiful tea ceremony sets at the Korea National Souvenir Center.

Hello, this is the Korea National Souvenir Center.

When i think of each city, there is a landmark that is naturally associated with it!

Today, I would like to introduce a landmark that comes to mind when I think of Seoul.

Let's find out about it with the Korea National Souvenir Center in Korea and go to Seoul together!

(๑•̀ㅅ•́)و✧

  1. N Seoul Tower

Namsan N Seoul Tower, the symbol of Seoul.

It is a must-see attraction for foreign tourists

and one of the most popular dating courses for couples.

Especially after sunset, you can see the night view of Seoul at a glance.

It is also close to Myeong-dong and Itaewon, so it is a good place to look around together.

  2. Lotte World Tower

The second place is Lotte World Tower, the tallest building in Korea.

The 123rd floor, 555-meter high, consists of residential, office, lodging, tourism, and shopping.

It is a complex building with a wide range of functions.

Especially, at Lotte World Tower Seoul Sky,

you can enjoy fantastic views and night views of Seoul at a height of 500 meters.

We recommend it more because it is lined with various fun things to enjoy

such as Art Gallary, Lotte World, and Aquarium.

  3. Seoul Plaza

The third place I'd like to introduce you is Seoul Plaza,

a large garden located in the heart of downtown Seoul, and the setting of a historical event that marks a milestone in modern Korean history.

and the setting of a historical event that marks a milestone in modern Korean history.

As there is fountain on one side of Seoul Plaza,

cool water from the river can cool down the people's heat during the summer

and a skating rink can be installed on one side of the plaza

during the winter to give citizens pleasant memories.

  4. 63 Building

Fourth, the landmark of Seoul is 63 Building.

63 Square in Yeouido is a 60-story, 3-story basement and is located at a height of 245m.

It's also called Seoul's symbolic tourist attraction.

Since you are facing Namsan Mountain, Bukaksan Mountain, and Gwanak Moutain from Hangang River, you can aslo see beautiful night views.

  5. Gwanghwamun

This is Gwanghwamun, the main gate of Gyeongbokgung Palace.

The king's gate is the main gate of Gyeongbokgung Palace, the legal palace of Joseon,

so the scale and the scene are very grand and luxurous.

Gyeongbokgung Palace, the best palace in Joseon Dynasty, is also located in this place,

so it is a popular tourist attraction in Korea.

When you stand in front of Gwanghwamun,

you will be surprised and marveled at the grandeur of gate.

  6. Banpo Bridge

The sixth landmark I will introduce you to is the Banpo Bridge!

It is said to create the best night view in the Hangang River.

I heard it'll be working by June, so make sure you come see it.

You'll feel a different beauty than you would on video!

  7. Cheonggyecheon

Cheonggyecheon is a stream

that runs on the border between Jongno-gu and Jung-gu in downtown Seoul.

You'll have to look around the section.

It is a fascination place to feel nature in the middle of a stuffy, polluted city center,

so I think it is a must-see attraction for anyone traveling through Seoul!!

  8. Insadong

     & Korea National Souvenir Center

Insadong is a popular place to see Korea National Souvenir Center at glance.

Here we can see not only foreign friends present, but also Korean traditional crafts and ceramics.

If you com to Insadong, make sure you visit there!

How about 8 landmark sites in Seoul that you've learned together?

I recommend taking a walk at the landmark in Seoul this weekend!

Hello, this is the Korea National Souvenir Center.

The last Wednesday of every month is the cultural day designated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Since January 2014, on designated cultural day,

you can visit major national and public museums, art galleries, and old palaces for free.

On this cultural day, why don't you go see a musical?

Today, I would like to introduce you to some musicals that will be seen cultural day on April.

You can expect a lot from them as they are my personal recommendation!

1. DOCTOR ZHIBAGO

It is based on Boris Pasternak's long novel Dr.Zhivago, who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1958.

One musical, Dr.Zhivago, won five Academy Awards and became a big box office hit.

-The plot-

Yuri Zhibago, who was born the son of the Moscow millionaire but became an orphan at the age of eight,

is adopted by the renowned Gromaco family and grows into a great doctor and poet.

Lara, who lost her father early and grew up in an unfavorable environment,

is disillusioned with the reality while continuing an unwanted relationship with the Russian judge Comarovsky.

Eventually, Lara points a gun at Comarovsky at the ball on the night before New Year's Eve,

and then meets him on that day, Yuri, the opponent of fate.

Stage direction and beautiful melody

that seem to be in the middle of winter in Russia are the most memorable plays.

Why don't you go back to the story of the Russian Revolution with the writer?

The musical Doctor Zhivago is being held at Charlotte Theater until May 7.

2. MAN OF LA MANCHA

It is based on Don Quixote, a masterpiece of the century

that has been continuously read and reinterpreted for over 400 years.

-The plot-

The story is set in a Spanish dungeon.

Servantes, who has been dragged to jail on blasphemy, holds impromptu plays in jail with the prisoners.

Alonzo, who lives in Ramancha, reads so much about the story

that he fancies himself Don Quixote and leaves to find Sancho, a warrior and adventure.

It reminds us of a dream and hope we forgot about my tired daily life.

Stage presentation, number, and acting are the perfect musical!

Man of Ramancha will play at the Blue Square Interpark Hall from April 12 to June 3.

3. BILLY ELLIOT

It's based on the movie Billy Elliot.

Eleven million people from all over the world attended, including five Olivier Awards and ten Tony Awards.

In total, it won about 80 awards.

-The plot-

Billy Elliot tells a story about a coal mining town in Northern England during the Great Depression in the 1980s.

Billy lives in a poor coalmine with his father, brother, and grandmother, who are enthusiastic about strike protests.

One day Billy comes into ballet class by chance,

and the teacher who discovered Billy's God-given talent for dancing gives him a private lesson.

Love and friendship with father, passion for ballet,

and situation in England in 80s is a play to be seen together.

It is a touching work that will bring attention to the passionate dancing of a little Billy!

Billy Elliot will be performing at the D-cube Art Center until May 7.

(Preschool children are not admitted)

How about the musicals you've learned so far?

I hope you go to see a musical that I recommended, and spend a meaningful cultural day!
